शैवधर्मप्रशंसा तथा पञ्चविधसाधनविभागः / Praise of Śaiva Dharma and the Fivefold Classification of Practice
अभ्यर्चनान्ते तु पुनः प्राणानायम्य मानवः । सम्यक्चित्तं समाधाय शार्वं नामाष्टकं जपेत्
abhyarcanānte tu punaḥ prāṇānāyamya mānavaḥ | samyakcittaṃ samādhāya śārvaṃ nāmāṣṭakaṃ japet
Kemudian, pada akhir pemujaan, si bhakta hendaklah sekali lagi mengatur nafas melalui prāṇāyāma; dan setelah menghimpun serta meneguhkan minda dalam tumpuan yang benar, hendaklah dia melafazkan Śārva Nāma-aṣṭaka—lapan nama suci Tuhan Śarva (Śiva).
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu

Mantra: śārva-nāmāṣṭaka (aṣṭa nāmāni of Śarva/Śiva; text not quoted in this verse)
Type: stotra
It teaches that outer worship should culminate in inner worship—prāṇāyāma and steady concentration—so devotion matures into inward absorption in Śiva, the Pati who liberates the bound soul.
After completing saguna, form-based pūjā (such as Liṅga worship), the practitioner turns inward through breath-regulation and mantra-japa, allowing the mind to rest in Śiva’s presence beyond mere external ritual.
Perform prāṇāyāma after pūjā, establish the mind in focused stillness, and then do japa of the Śārva Nāma-aṣṭaka (eight names of Śiva) as a concluding meditative offering.
