Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Role: liberating
It presents the Shiva Purana’s teaching as Veda-essential and emphasizes that liberation arises from the union of disciplined Shaiva observance (vrata) and true knowledge (jñāna) centered on Paśupati, the Lord of all souls.
By pointing to the “supreme Pāśupata” path, it supports Saguna worship—often through the Śiva-liṅga—as a structured discipline that purifies the soul and culminates in knowledge of Śiva as Pati (Lord) distinct from paśu (the bound soul) and pāśa (bondage).
The verse highlights vrata plus jñāna: a committed Shaiva regimen (such as regular liṅga-pūjā with mantra-japa, purity disciplines, and contemplative inquiry into Śiva as Paśupati) undertaken as a means to remove pāśa and attain moksha.
