An afflicted deva (heaven-dweller) praying to Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: stotra
It expresses śaraṇāgati (surrender): even celestial beings, bound by karma and sorrow, seek Pati (Śiva) as the compassionate Lord who removes duḥkha and grants inner peace and auspiciousness.
The prayer is directed to Saguna Śiva as Deveśa/Īśa—approachable through devotion, stotra, and Linga-worship—affirming Shiva as the active protector who responds to sincere supplication.
A practical takeaway is humble prayer with japa of the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and devotional Linga-pūjā, seeking Shiva’s grace to transform grief into steadiness and contentment.
