शङ्खचूडकृततपः—ब्रह्मवरकवचप्राप्तिः / Śaṅkhacūḍa’s Austerity—Brahmā’s Boon and the Bestowal of the Kavaca
Suta Goswami (narrating the Yuddhakhaṇḍa account to the sages)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
The verse highlights how worldly power gained through boons (like victory over devas) is still conditional and can bind the soul (paśu) through pride and domination; Shaiva Siddhanta emphasizes seeking Shiva (Pati) for liberation rather than mere supremacy.
Such boons often set the narrative stage for Shiva’s saguna intervention to protect dharma; the devotee is guided to take refuge in Shiva—commonly through Linga worship—as the true, higher shelter beyond the limited powers granted by other deities.
A practical takeaway is to redirect desire from “ajeyatva” to Shiva-bhakti: daily japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and Linga-archana, cultivating humility instead of power-seeking.
