It teaches that śravaṇa (devotional hearing) of the Liṅgotpatti narrative is itself a purifying Shaiva practice: the divine glory of Shiva’s Liṅga dissolves duḥkha (worldly sorrow) and turns the mind toward Pati (Shiva) as the saving refuge.
By praising the Liṅga’s “supremely divine” manifestation, the verse supports Liṅga-upāsanā as a direct, accessible form of Saguna Shiva worship—through which devotees approach the transcendent (Nirguna) Shiva via a sacred, grace-filled symbol.
The implied practice is regular hearing/recitation of the Liṅgotpatti-kathā with devotion, ideally alongside simple Liṅga-pūjā (water offering) and japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” as a sorrow-destroying discipline.
