वसिष्ठेन पुरा सा तु वर्णीभूत्वा महामुने । उपदिष्टा तपश्चर्तुं वचनात्परमेष्ठिनः
vasiṣṭhena purā sā tu varṇībhūtvā mahāmune | upadiṣṭā tapaścartuṃ vacanātparameṣṭhinaḥ
Wahai maha resi, pada zaman dahulu dia menjadi seorang brahmacāriṇī, gadis yang berpegang pada disiplin suci. Atas perintah Parameṣṭhin (Brahmā), Vasiṣṭha mengajarnya untuk menunaikan tapa (tapas).
