Viṣṇu’s Hymn and the Petition for Śiva–Satī’s Protection
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: stotra
Offering: pushpa
The verse highlights bhakti as an immediate spiritual force: sincere praise (stotra) offered to Bhaktavatsala Śiva draws His attention, and the devotee’s urgency to “step forward” reflects active surrender and care within the divine relationship.
By addressing Śiva as Śaṅkara and Bhaktavatsala, the verse emphasizes Saguna worship—approaching the compassionate Lord through hymns and reverence, as is commonly done before the Liṅga with stotra-pāṭha and prayers.
Stotra-pāṭha (recitation of hymns) with focused devotion is implied—an accessible practice often paired with mantra-japa (e.g., the Pañcākṣarī) and Liṅga-upacāra to cultivate steadiness and grace.
