Description of Pārvatī’s Childhood/Birth Festivities
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
It depicts Śakti (Pārvatī) maturing in purity and auspiciousness—like Gaṅgā’s fullness and autumn moonlight’s clarity—signifying the inner ripening required before divine union with Pati (Śiva) and the bestowal of grace.
Pārvatī is presented as Śivā—inseparable from Śiva—so devotion to Saguna Śiva (including Liṅga worship) is implicitly devotion to the united reality of Śiva-Śakti, where form becomes a vessel for grace and realization.
A practical takeaway is to cultivate steadiness and clarity through daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and purity of conduct—mirroring the verse’s imagery of fullness (Gaṅgā) and clarity (moonlight).
