Permission for Girijā’s Austerities
साफल्यं तु मदीयस्य कुलस्य च न संशयः । मात्रे तु रुच्यते चेद्वै ततः शुभतरं नु किम्
sāphalyaṃ tu madīyasya kulasya ca na saṃśayaḥ | mātre tu rucyate cedvai tataḥ śubhataraṃ nu kim
“Tiada syak bahawa keturunanku akan mencapai kesempurnaan dan kejayaan yang diberkati. Dan jika ibuku benar-benar merestui, apakah lagi yang lebih membawa tuah daripada itu?”

The verse highlights that true auspiciousness (śubha) is not merely personal desire but dharmic harmony—especially the blessing of one’s mother—so that life-events become spiritually fruitful (sāphalya) rather than ego-driven.
In the Parvatīkhaṇḍa narrative leading toward Shiva–Parvati union, dharmic consent and blessings support a sacred, saguna understanding of Shiva’s līlā: worldly order and inner devotion align, preparing the ground for stable bhakti and household worship.
The takeaway is to seek blessings before major vows: offer a simple prayer to Shiva with the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and make a respectful saṅkalpa for dharmic intention, beginning any sacred commitment with elders’ blessings.
