Narration of Kārttikeya’s Divine Play
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It presents the divine child as transcending ordinary sense-perception, implying that the Lord’s manifestations are truly known through grace (anugraha) and devotion, not merely through the eyes—aligning with Shaiva Siddhanta’s emphasis on Pati’s revelatory power.
Just as the Linga signifies Shiva beyond form yet approachable through sacred signs, the child here is described as ‘beyond the eyes’ while still being intensely lovable—showing how Saguna manifestations draw the devotee’s heart toward the transcendent (Nirguna) reality of Shiva.
The takeaway is inward contemplation and bhakti: approach Shiva with mantra-japa (especially the Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and reverent meditation rather than relying on external perception alone.
