Narration of Kārttikeya’s Divine Play
ब्रह्मोवाच । इत्याकर्ण्य वच स्तस्य तत्स्ववृत्तं जगाद ह । ततश्चोवाच सुप्रीत्या गाधिजं तं महोतिकृत्
brahmovāca | ityākarṇya vaca stasya tatsvavṛttaṃ jagāda ha | tataścovāca suprītyā gādhijaṃ taṃ mahotikṛt
Brahmā bersabda: Setelah mendengar kata-katanya demikian, dia pun menceritakan riwayat dirinya. Kemudian, dengan sukacita yang besar, insan yang termasyhur itu berkata kepada putera Gādhi (Viśvāmitra), yang telah melakukan tapa yang agung.

It highlights the Shaiva principle that sincere tapas (disciplined austerity) and receptive listening to sacred speech prepare a seeker for higher instruction, where divine narration becomes a means to awaken right understanding.
Though the verse is narrative, it sets the devotional framework of respectful hearing and authoritative teaching—key supports for Saguna Shiva worship, where teachings guide the devotee toward focused reverence (often expressed through Linga-upāsanā).
The implied practice is śravaṇa (attentive listening to sacred discourse) joined with tapas—supportive disciplines for mantra-japa (such as Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and steady devotional contemplation.
