Description of the Birth/Manifestation of Śiva’s Son
Suta Goswami (narrating the episode; verse reports Lord Shiva’s response)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
It shows Śiva’s compassionate participation in the cosmos: though ever the supreme Pati, he responds to the devas’ plea with a heart that feels their suffering, revealing divine grace (anugraha) at work in worldly crises.
The verse highlights Saguna Śiva—Bhava—who listens and answers. Devotees approach the Liṅga as this accessible, responsive Lord, trusting that sincere prayer receives a living reply through grace and guidance.
When the mind is ‘burning’ with distress, take refuge in japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with steady breath and remembrance of Śiva as Bhava, the compassionate Lord who hears and responds.
