Gaṇeśa’s Consecration, Boons, and Prescribed Worship
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Frames the doctrine that divine appointment (adhikāra) and nāma (sacred name) function as channels of grace: the empowered leader removes vighnas for devotees and stabilizes communal worship.
Offering: pushpa
Shiva grants divine authority to Gaṇeśa: his very name becomes a śakti for removing vighnas (outer and inner obstacles). In Shaiva Siddhanta terms, it indicates that Pati (Shiva) empowers a chosen deity-function to clear impediments so the jīva may proceed toward Shiva-bhakti and liberation.
The verse highlights Saguna Shiva’s governance of the cosmic order: Shiva appoints the Gaṇa-leader and establishes worship protocol. In practical worship, devotees honor Gaṇeśa first so that Linga-pūjā and Shiva-upāsanā proceed without ritual or mental hindrance.
Begin worship by invoking Gaṇeśa as Vighnahartā (e.g., chanting “Oṃ Gaṃ Gaṇapataye Namaḥ”), then proceed to Shiva worship (such as the Pañcākṣarī “Oṃ Namaḥ Śivāya”), maintaining a focused mind free from vighnas.
