Devata: Rātrī (with implicit Uṣas as counterpart)

निरु स्वसारमस्कृतोषसं देव्यायती । अपेदु हासते तमः ॥

nír u svásāram askṛtoṣásaṃ devy āyatī́ | áped u hāsate támaḥ ||

Sebagai Dewi, ia melenyapkan saudarinya, Fajar (Uṣas), hingga hilang; dan kegelapan (tamas), yang dihalau, pun berundur—seolah-olah mentertawakan tuntutannya—di hadapan irama agung yang ditegakkan oleh Malam (Rātri).
