Vibhīṣaṇa’s Arrival and the Debate on Refuge
नवादान्नपिसङ्घर्षान्नाधिक्यान्नचकामतः ।वक्ष्यामिवचनंराजन्यथार्थंरामगौरवात् ।।6.17.52।।
na vādān napi saṅgharṣān nādhikyān na ca kāmataḥ | vakṣyāmi vacanaṃ rājan yathārthaṃ rāmagauravāt || 6.17.52 ||
Wahai Raja, aku akan menyatakan yang benar—bukan demi perdebatan, bukan untuk menimbulkan pertentangan, bukan kerana rasa lebih tinggi, dan bukan pula kerana kehendak peribadi—melainkan kerana hormatku kepada Rāma.
"O King Rama! I am telling this to you truly not for the sake of argument, not for the sake of creating friction, or with a sense of superiority, or desire but out of respect."
Truthful speech must be free of ego and hostility: dharma is to speak satya for the common good, not to win arguments or assert dominance.
