Sarga 122
कर्तव्यो न तुवैदेहीमन्युस्त्यागमिमंप्रति ।रामेणेत्वद्विशुध्यर्थंकृतमेतद्धितैषिणा ।।।।
kartavyo na tu vaidehī manyus tyāgam imaṃ prati | rāmeṇa etad-viśuddhy-arthaṃ kṛtam etad hitaiṣiṇā ||
Wahai Vaidehī, janganlah engkau menyimpan amarah terhadap perbuatan ‘meninggalkan’ ini; Rāma, demi kebajikanmu, melakukannya untuk menegakkan kesucianmu.
"In the event of Rama abandoning you, resentment should not be shown in this way. It is your duty to endure. Rama himself has done this to prove your purity."
The verse frames endurance and restraint (kṣamā) as dharma in a crisis, interpreting Rāma’s action as aimed at public truth/credibility regarding Sītā’s purity.
Daśaratha counsels Sītā not to resent Rāma’s seeming rejection, presenting it as undertaken to establish her purity and welfare.
For Sītā: forbearance and steadiness; for Rāma (as portrayed here): ‘hitaiṣitā’—acting with a stated intention of welfare and vindication of truth.
