Alarm at Chitrakūṭa: Lakṣmaṇa sights the approaching army
O that mighty warrior Bharata, on whose account you have been banished from the perpetual kingdom, comes here as a foe and as for me, he deserves to be slain.
It highlights how perceived injustice can inflame righteous anger; dharma requires discernment so that moral outrage does not become blind hostility.
Lakṣmaṇa anticipates a possible clash with Bharata’s forces and speaks of confronting Bharata, whom he suspects as responsible for their exile.
Protective zeal—Lakṣmaṇa’s fierce commitment to defend Rāma and respond to dishonour.
