चित्रकूटवर्णनम् (Description of Chitrakūṭa) / Rama Shows Sita Chitrakuta
आम्रजम्ब्वसनैर्लोध्रैः प्रियालैः पनसैर्धवैः।अङ्कोलैर्भव्यतिनिशैर्बिल्वतिन्दुक वेणुभिः।।2.94.8।।काश्मर्यरिष्टवरुणैर्मधूकैस्तिलकैस्तथा।बदर्यामलकैर्नीपैर्वेत्रधन्वनबीजकैः।।2.94.9।।पुष्पवद्भिः फलोपेतैश्छायावद्भिर्मनोरमैः।एवमादिभिराकीर्णः श्रियं पुष्यत्ययं गिरिः।।2.94.10।।
āmrajambv-asanaiḥ lodhraiḥ priyālaiḥ panasair dhavaiḥ |
aṅkolair bhavyatiniśair bilvatinduka-veṇubhiḥ ||
kāśmaryariṣṭavaruṇair madhūkaiś tilakais tathā |
badaryāmalakair nīpair vetradhanvana-bījakaiḥ ||
puṣpavadbhiḥ phalopetaiś chāyāvadbhir manoramaiḥ |
evamādibhir ākīrṇaḥ śriyaṃ puṣyaty ayaṃ giriḥ ||
Gunung ini dipenuhi pepohon yang mempesona, rendang dan meneduhkan, berbunga serta berbuah: mangga, jambū, asana, lodhra, priyāla, nangka, dhava; aṅkola, tinisa, bilva, tinduka, buluh; kāśmarya, ariṣṭa, varuṇa, madhūka, tilaka; bidara, āmalaka, nīpa; rotan, dhanvana, delima, dan lain-lain. Diliputi demikian, gunung ini bertambah megah dalam kemuliaannya.
This mount Chitrakuta is swarmed by flocks of birds and herds of several kinds of animals like tigers, panthers and bears of every kind giving up their cruel nature.
Dharma in exile is sustained through harmony with the forest—living within what nature provides, without excess, and recognizing the forest as a legitimate, dignified setting for righteous life.
Rāma describes the abundance of trees and fruits at Citrakūṭa to Sītā, presenting the place as suitable for their life of disciplined austerity.
Contentment and adaptability—Rāma’s ability to embrace a simple, rule-governed life supported by the forest’s resources.
