चित्रकूटवर्णनम् (Description of Chitrakūṭa) / Rama Shows Sita Chitrakuta
इमं तु कालं वनिते विजह्रिवांस्त्वया च सीते सह लक्ष्मणेन च।रतिं प्रपत्स्ये कुलधर्मवर्धनीं सतां पथि स्वैर्नियमैः परैः स्थितः।।।।
imaṃ tu kālaṃ vanite vijahrivāṃs tvayā ca sīte saha lakṣmaṇena ca |
ratiṃ prapatsye kuladharmavardhanīṃ satāṃ pathi svair niyamaiḥ paraiḥ sthitaḥ ||
Wahai Sītā yang terkasih, dengan menghabiskan masa ini di rimba bersamamu dan bersama Lakṣmaṇa—teguh di jalan para suci, serta dikawal oleh disiplin diri yang ketat—aku akan meraih sukacita yang mendalam, yang juga meneguhkan dharma keturunan kita.
O my beloved Sita, by spending time with you and Lakshmana following the path of the virtuous with utmost restraint and by enhancing the righteousness of my race, I shall obtain great felicity.ityārṣē śrīmadrāmāyaṇē vālmīkīya ādikāvyē ayōdhyākāṇḍē caturnavatitamassargaḥ৷৷Thus ends the ninetyfourth sarga in Ayodhyakanda of the holy Ramayana, the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
Dharma is upheld through self-restraint (niyama) and adherence to the path of the virtuous (satām pathi). Rāma frames even forest-life as dharmic when lived with discipline and integrity, and as something that strengthens family and social righteousness (kuladharma).
During the forest exile period around Citrakūṭa, Rāma speaks to Sītā, interpreting their time in the wilderness not as mere suffering but as a dharmic life of disciplined conduct shared with Lakṣmaṇa.
Rāma’s virtue of maryādā (principled conduct) expressed as strict self-control and commitment to the moral path, transforming exile into a spiritually and ethically meaningful life.
