FAQs

Dharma is framed as relational duty: before a life-altering vow is carried out, the son is urged to honor the emotional and familial bonds of mother and father, balancing resolve with compassion and propriety.

Daśaratha, distressed by Rāma’s impending exile, asks him to remain for the night with his parents and depart the next day at an appropriate time.

Daśaratha’s paternal tenderness and concern for propriety (aucitya), seeking one last night of familial closeness before separation.
