पादुकाप्रदानम्
The Gift of the Sandals and Delegated Kingship
त्रस्तगात्रस्तु भरतस्स वाचा सज्जमानया ।
कृताञ्जलिरिदं वाक्यं राघवं पुनरब्रवीत् ॥९॥
trastagātras tu bharataḥ sa vācā sajjamānayā |
kṛtāñjalir idaṃ vākyaṃ rāghavaṃ punar abravīt ||9||
Adapun Bharata, tubuhnya menggigil dan suaranya tersekat-sekat; dengan kedua tangan dirapatkan dalam añjali, baginda sekali lagi berkata kepada Rāghava (Rāma).
Before Bharata, with his limbs trembling and with palms folded (in reverence) was ready to depart, he said to Rama:
Dharma is approached with reverence and emotional honesty: rightful action is not cold; it is chosen even amid fear and grief.
As the moment of departure nears, Bharata, overwhelmed, prepares to address Rāma once more.
Devotion and humility—Bharata’s folded hands and trembling show sincere submission to dharma rather than claim to power.
