Sūta

Concept: Right questioning (sādhu pṛṣṭam) invites right teaching; sacred geography is best approached through humility and disciplined listening.

Application: Cultivate the habit of asking precise, sincere questions in spiritual study; when teaching others, affirm their inquiry and then present structured guidance.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Type: tirtha

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"Sūta sits poised like a seasoned storyteller, one hand raised in a gentle teaching gesture, the other resting near a manuscript and rosary. The sages’ faces brighten with relief and anticipation as the background subtly transforms into a visionary map of Prayāga—ghāṭas, banners, and the braided confluence shimmering as if the words themselves are painting the landscape.","primary_figures":["Sūta","Ṛṣis"],"setting":"Forest āśrama assembly with a low wooden seat for Sūta, ritual fire nearby, and a distant glimpse of river plains.","lighting_mood":"divine radiance","color_palette":["sunrise gold","saffron","deep teal","ivory","copper"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: Sūta enthroned on a small ornate seat, gold-leaf halo, sages in symmetrical rows; background confluence rendered with gold highlights and stylized ghāṭa architecture; rich reds/greens, embossed gold borders, gem-like ornamentation on vessels and manuscript cover.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: Sūta in calm authority, delicate hand gesture; sages attentive; distant river plain with soft atmospheric perspective; cool blues and warm ochres balanced, fine textile patterns and naturalistic trees.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: Sūta centered with bold outline and expressive eyes, sages flanking; background simplified into iconic river confluence and temple forms; strong reds/yellows/greens with decorative border bands.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: central Sūta-kathā scene framed by lotus and creeper borders; behind, a stylized Triveṇī with swans and lotus clusters; deep blue field with gold linework, symmetrical devotional composition."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"devotional","suggested_raga":"Bhupali","pace":"moderate-narrative","voice_tone":"serene","sound_elements":["conch shell (soft opening)","temple bells","crackling sacrificial fire","river breeze"]}

FAQs

It serves as a transition: Sūta confirms the question is appropriate and announces a forthcoming detailed description (upavarṇana) of the sacred tīrtha Prayāga.

By introducing Prayāga as a subject worthy of inquiry by “suvratāḥ” (disciplined, virtuous listeners), it frames the tīrtha as spiritually significant and suitable for a māhātmya-style exposition.

It implies that sacred knowledge is best approached with restraint, vows, and sincerity—suggesting that tīrtha teachings are connected to disciplined conduct and reverent listening.
