FAQs

It highlights dāna (charitable giving), specifically offering a garment (vastra) to a brāhmaṇa as a devotional act connected with pleasing Pradyumna (a Vāsudeva aspect associated with Viṣṇu).

The verse states that one attains residence in Viṣṇu’s city (Viṣṇupura/Vaikuṇṭha) for a kalpa and becomes free from sorrow (viśoka).

It teaches that respectful generosity—supporting learned and sacred recipients—when offered with devotional intent yields both spiritual uplift and inner freedom from grief.
