FAQs

It prescribes dāna (charitable gifting)—a bull, a kūṣmāṇḍa (pumpkin/gourd), gold, and clothing—to a brāhmaṇa, and recommends observing an auspicious bāla-vrata (a vow characterized by purity and restraint).

Such gifts represent practical support and symbolic merit: livestock sustains livelihood, gold signifies lasting value, and clothing meets basic dignity—together framing dāna as both materially helpful and spiritually meritorious.

It links inner discipline (vrata) with outward generosity (dāna), presenting a holistic ethic where self-restraint and compassionate giving reinforce one another.
