Unspecified (narratorial voice within the Brahma-khaṇḍa context)

Concept: Devotional listening to a sin-destroying sacred narrative annihilates even vast accumulated sins instantly.

Application: Set aside daily time to hear/recite Hari-kathā (Purāṇa, Gītā, stotra) with attention and faith; treat listening as a real sādhana.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A circle of listeners sits in rapt attention as a storyteller recites the sacred account; from the sound-waves of the narration, dark smoke-like sins dissolve into light. The atmosphere feels instantly cleansed, as if the very air becomes a sanctum through bhakti-filled hearing.","primary_figures":["kathā-vācaka (narrator)","devotional listeners (śrotāraḥ)","subtle presence of Śrī Hari as a radiant aura"],"setting":"Temple courtyard or āśrama hall with a low vyāsāsana seat, oil lamps, garlands, and a manuscript stand; devotees seated on mats.","lighting_mood":"golden dawn","color_palette":["warm gold","sandalwood tan","indigo blue","marigold orange","soft white"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: storyteller on a decorated seat with gold leaf backdrop, devotees listening with folded hands, stylized sound-waves rendered as golden arcs, faint Vishnu aura above, rich reds/greens, ornate borders and lamp motifs, devotional intensity.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: intimate satsang scene with delicate brushwork, soft morning light, listeners in varied postures of attention, subtle visual metaphor of sins dissolving as pale smoke, cool blues and warm ochres balanced, lyrical calm.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines, symmetrical audience arrangement, prominent lamps, golden aura suggesting Hari-kathā power, saturated reds/yellows/greens, temple-wall narrative clarity.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: central katha assembly framed by lotus and floral borders, peacocks at corners, deep blue ground with gold script-like patterns suggesting sacred sound, Vishnu symbols (śaṅkha-cakra) subtly woven into the border."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"devotional","suggested_raga":"Durga","pace":"slow-meditative","voice_tone":"reverent-soft","sound_elements":["tanpura drone","soft mridangam pulse","temple bells (distant)","collective murmured responses","silence between verses"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: śṛṇuyādbhaktyā = śṛṇuyāt + bhaktyā; cākhyānam = ca + ākhyānam; koṭijanmārjitaṃ = koṭi-janma + arjitam (ā-sandhi); tatkṣaṇāt = tat + kṣaṇāt.

FAQs

The verse praises śravaṇa (devotional listening) to a sacred narrative (ākhyāna) as a powerful form of bhakti.

It explicitly links devotion (bhaktyā) with transformative spiritual results, presenting sincere listening as sufficient to dissolve deep karmic burdens.

It teaches that inner receptivity and devotion—rather than mere ritualism—are central, and that turning toward dharma through sincere listening can reverse long-standing harmful tendencies.
