Annadāna and the Obstruction of Viṣṇu-Darśana; Vāmadeva’s Teaching and the Vāsudeva Stotra Prelude
Rājā (the King)
Concept: Attaining Vishnu’s supreme abode is the highest success; spiritual ‘health’ is measured by proximity to Vishnu, not merely bodily well-being.
Application: Reframe life-goals: cultivate practices that lead to inner wholeness—devotion, ethical living, and remembrance of Vishnu—so ‘well-being’ includes the soul’s destination.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"In the hermitage, the king answers with luminous certainty, as if a vision of Vaikuṇṭha briefly opens behind his words—an ethereal lotus-city with Vishnu’s symbols shimmering. The sage and queen look on, sensing that the king speaks from lived spiritual experience rather than mere doctrine.","primary_figures":["Chola king","Vāmadeva","queen Tārkṣyā (implied)","subtle visionary Vishnu symbols (conch, discus, lotus)"],"setting":"Ashram foreground with a faint, translucent Vaikuṇṭha vision in the sky—lotus platforms, celestial gates, and soft clouds.","lighting_mood":"divine radiance","color_palette":["celestial white","lotus pink","sapphire blue","pale gold","cloud gray"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: king speaking to Vāmadeva, with a gold-leaf Vaikuṇṭha vignette behind—lotus throne motifs, conch and discus emblems, ornate arch; rich reds/greens for earthly scene, radiant gold for the transcendent backdrop.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: gentle mystical overlay—ashram scene with a faint Vaikuṇṭha cloud-vision painted in soft washes; delicate facial expressions of wonder, cool blues and pinks, refined linework and lyrical atmosphere.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold iconic king and sage in the foreground, stylized celestial panel above showing lotus-world and Vishnu emblems; strong outlines, warm pigments, temple mural symmetry.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: Vaikuṇṭha suggested through lotus mandala patterns and conch-disc borders; the king at center speaking, floral frames, deep indigo field with gold highlights, devotional symbolism over literal perspective."}

Sandhi Resolution Notes:
It means “the supreme abode/state of Viṣṇu,” a common Purāṇic expression for the highest spiritual goal—liberation and residence in Viṣṇu’s transcendental realm.
The phrase “rājovāca” indicates the speaker is the king, replying in the dialogue.
Beyond physical well-being (“nirāmaya”), the verse highlights the higher success of life as attaining the supreme divine goal—union with or reaching the highest state associated with Viṣṇu.
