Concept: Embodiment is differentiated by the mixture of karmas; forms transform according to karmic configuration, yielding a fourfold classification.

Application: Observe how habits (saṃskāras) ‘mix’ to shape one’s life-body (health, temperament, opportunities); intentionally add sattvic practices—truth, restraint, worship—to change the mixture over time.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A sage-like narrator visualizes karma as streams of colored threads—dark, bright, and mixed—braiding into four archetypal body-forms arranged like a mandala. Each quadrant subtly hints at a different mode of embodiment, suggesting transformation rather than fixed fate.","primary_figures":["teaching sage/narrator (generic)","symbolic jīva forms in four quadrants"],"setting":"Cosmic classroom—open sky pavilion with palm-leaf manuscripts, a mandala diagram on the ground, and elemental symbols (earth, water, fire, air)","lighting_mood":"calm lamp-lit clarity","color_palette":["saffron","indigo","ivory","copper","leaf green"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: central sage with gold leaf halo teaching before a fourfold mandala of embodied forms; ornate borders, rich vermilion and emerald, embossed gold for the mandala lines, symbolic elemental icons in corners.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: intimate teaching scene with a sage pointing to a painted diagram of four body-types; delicate lines, muted mountain palette, soft ivory background, refined gestures emphasizing contemplation.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: stylized sage with bold outlines; four-panel composition showing symbolic body transformations; strong reds/yellows/greens with black contouring and decorative bands.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: mandala-like fourfold arrangement framed by lotus creepers; include subtle śaṅkha-cakra motifs in the border to signal Viṣṇu’s governance over karma; deep blue ground with gold and saffron highlights."}

FAQs

It indicates that embodied experience arises from combined past actions (karmic influences), not from a single cause, producing varied outcomes in the nature and condition of the body.

The verse states that the body can be understood in four categories based on how its form manifests through karmic transformation; the specific four types are likely defined in surrounding verses.

Since bodily conditions are linked to accumulated actions, it encourages mindful conduct and responsibility, emphasizing that choices shape future embodiment and experience.
