yāvatpaṃcāśadvarṣāṇi tāvattiṣṭhati vai dṛḍhaḥ | paścācca jāyate hānistasyaivāpi dinedine

Selama lima puluh tahun dia benar-benar teguh; namun selepas itu kemerosotan pun datang kepadanya, hari demi hari.

Concept: Strength and stability are temporary; after midlife, decline comes day by day—therefore prioritize lasting spiritual gain now.

Application: Begin steady sādhanā early (japa, ekādaśī discipline, charity); plan life around dharma rather than postponing devotion to old age.

Primary Rasa: karuna

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A triptych-like scene shows the same man in three stages: vigorous youth, steady middle age, and then a subtly stooped figure with a shadow of time stretching behind him. Above, a faint wheel of Kāla turns like a celestial clock, while a small Vishnu lamp remains constant, inviting early devotion.","primary_figures":["symbolic householder (three life stages)","Kāla-wheel motif","small Vishnu shrine lamp"],"setting":"simple courtyard with a threshold shrine; background fades from bright to muted across the panels","lighting_mood":"divine radiance","color_palette":["warm ochre","faded sepia","indigo shadow","lamp-gold","sage green"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: three-panel narrative with gold-leaf Kāla-chakra above; the same figure depicted in youth/middle/old age; ornate shrine lamp with Vishnu symbol; gold leaf on the chakra, lamp, and borders; rich reds and greens with traditional ornamentation.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: lyrical sequential vignettes across a single page; subtle aging shown through posture and facial refinement; pale sky with a faint time-wheel; gentle courtyard details, cool-to-warm gradient palette, delicate brushwork.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlined life-stages arranged horizontally; stylized Kāla-chakra overhead; strong pigment blocks, temple-wall composition; lamp-gold highlights and expressive eyes.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: central Vishnu lamp and lotus border; around it, circular medallions showing life stages; a decorative time-wheel motif integrated with floral patterns; deep blues and gold with intricate borders."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"meditative","suggested_raga":"Durga","pace":"slow-meditative","voice_tone":"reverent-soft","sound_elements":["soft tanpura","single bell strokes","quiet wind","silence between lines"]}

FAQs

It highlights impermanence: even firmness or strength lasts only for a time, and then gradual decline sets in.

It can be read literally as a benchmark used by the text, but it also functions as a general observation that bodily stability is time-bound and later diminishes progressively.

Because strength and stability are temporary, one should use the period of vigor for dharma (right conduct), self-discipline, and spiritual practice rather than postponing what matters.
