कुंजल उवाच । ततस्त्वसौ संयति राजमानः समुद्यतश्चापधरो महात्मा । यथैव कालः कुपितः सलोकान्संहर्तुमैच्छत्तु तथा सुदानवान्
kuṃjala uvāca | tatastvasau saṃyati rājamānaḥ samudyataścāpadharo mahātmā | yathaiva kālaḥ kupitaḥ salokānsaṃhartumaicchattu tathā sudānavān
Kuñjala berkata: Lalu pahlawan berjiwa agung itu tampak bersinar di medan perang, mengangkat busurnya dan bersiap sedia. Seperti Kāla (Waktu) yang murka ingin membinasakan segala loka, demikianlah juga dia, bersama para Dānava, berhasrat memusnahkan dunia-dunia.

Concept: Power in battle mirrors cosmic forces; when aligned with adharma (here, with Dānavas), it becomes ‘kāla’-like destruction rather than righteous protection.
Application: Examine ambition and anger: if your ‘raised bow’ serves ego or harmful company, redirect it into disciplined duty and devotion.

The speaker is Kuñjala. The verse depicts a battle scene where a bow-bearing, great-souled figure rises in combat and is compared to enraged Kāla (Time) in his desire to destroy the worlds, acting along with the Dānavas.
Kāla is a common Purāṇic symbol for inevitable cosmic dissolution. Comparing the warrior’s intent to enraged Time intensifies the portrayal of overwhelming, world-ending power and destructive resolve.
The verse warns about the catastrophic potential of wrath and destructive ambition: when power is driven by anger and allied with demonic forces (Dānavas), it mirrors the indiscriminate devastation associated with cosmic Time.
