The Exposition of the Nityā-paṭala
विश्वसंहारसंतुष्टाः पुनरेत्य निजेच्छया । देव्या ललाटनेत्रे स्युः प्रार्थिते तु तिरोहिताः ॥ ४७ ॥
viśvasaṃhārasaṃtuṣṭāḥ punaretya nijecchayā | devyā lalāṭanetre syuḥ prārthite tu tirohitāḥ || 47 ||
Mereka bersukacita dalam peleburan alam semesta, lalu kembali lagi menurut kehendak sendiri. Mereka bersemayam pada ‘mata dahi’ Sang Dewi; namun apabila dipanggil, mereka lenyap daripada pandangan.

The verse points to subtle divine forces that are drawn to cosmic dissolution (laya) and can abide in the transcendent seat of perception symbolized by the Goddess’s third eye, yet remain beyond ordinary visibility—even when called.
It suggests that divine presence is not mechanically controlled by prayer; even sincere invocation may not yield visible results. Bhakti here matures into trust and reverence for the deity’s independent will (nija-icchā).
Mantra-prayoga (applied mantra practice) is implied: “prārthite” indicates invocation, while “tirohitāḥ” warns that results may be subtle (adr̥śya). This aligns with Vedanga-style technical discourse around ritual efficacy and esoteric symbolism.
