The Description of the Worship of Rāma and Others
Rāmādi-pūjā-vidhāna
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada in a Vedanga/ritual-qualification context)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It defines eligibility for mantra practice: initiation (dīkṣā) must be supported by inner purity—virtue, ethical restraint, and sense-conquest—so the mantra becomes spiritually effective rather than merely mechanical.
By insisting on purity, self-control, and right conduct, it frames bhakti and mantra as disciplined worship: devotion matures when the senses are governed and the practitioner lives a regulated dharmic life.
It highlights ritual competence and mantra-discipline: proper procedure (vidhi), dīkṣā (initiation), and the ethical prerequisites required for successful mantra application—core concerns in Vedanga-aligned practice.
