FAQs

It presents Bhāgīrathī (Gaṅgā) as intrinsically nirmalā (pure) and malahāriṇī (removing defilement), establishing her as a universally revered tīrtha whose contact is linked with inner and outer purification.

By glorifying the Goddess-river as a divine purifier known across the three worlds, the verse supports bhakti expressed through reverent remembrance, praise, and tīrtha-sevā—approaching the sacred with faith as a means to cleanse the heart for devotion to dharma and the divine.

The verse primarily conveys tīrtha-māhātmya rather than a technical Vedāṅga; practically, it underpins ritual purity (śauca) principles used in snāna and prāyaścitta contexts—how sacred water is employed for purification in dharmic observance.
