Vāmana’s Advent, Aditi’s Hymn, Bali’s Gift, and the Mahatmya of Bhū-dāna
एवं तेनाग्निना विप्र दग्धं सासुरकाननम् । सादितिर्नैव दग्धाभूद्विष्णुचक्राभिरक्षिता ॥ १३ ॥
evaṃ tenāgninā vipra dagdhaṃ sāsurakānanam | sāditirnaiva dagdhābhūdviṣṇucakrābhirakṣitā || 13 ||
Demikianlah, wahai brāhmaṇa, api itu membakar rimba bersama para asura; namun Aditi sama sekali tidak terbakar, kerana dilindungi oleh cakra Viṣṇu.
Narada (narration within the Purva Bhaga dialogue tradition)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: vira
It teaches that the Lord’s anugraha (grace) overrides even overwhelming destruction: when one is under Viṣṇu’s protection, harm cannot touch them, just as Aditi remained unharmed despite the consuming fire.
Bhakti is shown as reliance on Viṣṇu as the ultimate refuge (śaraṇāgati). The Sudarśana symbolizes the Lord’s active guardianship of devotees and dharmic beings amid hostile forces.
While no specific Vedāṅga technique is taught, the verse supports the practical purāṇic application of mantra-smaraṇa and protective devotion to Viṣṇu (often paired in practice with Sudarśana-related stotra/mantra traditions).
