Vyākaraṇa-saṅgraha: Pada–Vibhakti–Kāraka–Lakāra–Samāsa
लक्षणेत्थंभूतोऽभिरभागे चानुपरिप्रति । अंतरेषु सहार्थे च हीने ह्युपश्च कथ्यते ॥ ११ ॥
lakṣaṇetthaṃbhūto'bhirabhāge cānupariprati | aṃtareṣu sahārthe ca hīne hyupaśca kathyate || 11 ||
Upasarga “upa” diajarkan membawa makna: penandaan (lakṣaṇa), “menjadi demikian” (itthaṃbhūta), “menuju/dekat” (abhi), “bahagian” (bhāga), serta “mengikut/berkeliling/ke arah” (anu, pari, prati). Selain itu, ia juga digunakan dalam erti “di antara/di dalam” (antara), “bersama” (saha), dan “kurang/rendah” (hīna).
