The Narration of the Brāhma Purāṇa’s Account
Brāhma Purāṇānukramaṇikā
मरीचिरुवाच । भगवन्देवदेवेश लोकानां प्रभवाप्यय । सर्वज्ञ सर्वकल्याण सर्वाध्यक्ष नमोऽस्तु ते ॥ १९ ॥
marīciruvāca | bhagavandevadeveśa lokānāṃ prabhavāpyaya | sarvajña sarvakalyāṇa sarvādhyakṣa namo'stu te || 19 ||
Marīci berkata: Wahai Bhagavān, Tuhan para dewa—asal mula dan peleburan segala alam; Yang Maha Mengetahui, Maha Membawa Kesejahteraan, dan Penguasa atas segalanya—sembah sujudku kepada-Mu.
Marici
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It frames devotion through stuti (praise): recognizing the Lord as the origin and dissolution of all worlds, omniscient and all-governing, which cultivates surrender (śaraṇāgati) and reverence.
Bhakti begins with namas—humble salutation—grounded in right understanding of the Lord’s cosmic roles (creator, sustainer/governor, dissolver) and His auspicious nature, making praise a direct devotional practice.
Not a technical Vedāṅga instruction; it mainly exemplifies mantra-style eulogy and precise epithets (a Vyākaraṇa-friendly compound style like devadeveśa, sarvādhyakṣa) used in Purāṇic liturgy.
