The Narration of the Navamī Vow Observed Across the Twelve Months
Narada (in instruction within the Narada Purana’s discourse framework)
Vrata: none (Devī/Durgā worship within a vrata context)
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It states the phala (result) of Durgā-upāsanā: devotion to the Goddess removes durgati (adverse destiny) and yields both worldly well-being (bhoga) and a heavenly afterlife (svarga-gati).
Bhakti is presented as direct worship (pūjā) of the deity, where sincere reverence itself becomes the means to protection, prosperity, and auspicious post-death destiny.
The verse points to ritual praxis (pūjā/arcana) and phalaśruti reasoning—how specific acts of worship are linked to declared outcomes—rather than a technical Vedāṅga like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa.
