Account of the Aṣṭamī Vow Across the Twelve Months
क्षीरोदार्णवसम्भूते कमले कमलालये । विष्णुवक्षस्थलस्थे मे सर्वकामप्रदा भव ॥ ६४ ॥
kṣīrodārṇavasambhūte kamale kamalālaye | viṣṇuvakṣasthalasthe me sarvakāmapradā bhava || 64 ||
Wahai Kamalā (Lakṣmī) yang lahir dari Samudera Susu, wahai penghuni teratai, yang bersemayam di dada Viṣṇu—jadilah bagiku pemberi segala hajat dan tujuan yang diingini.
Narada (as a devotional invocation within the Narada Purana’s discourse)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It invokes Śrī Lakṣmī as inseparably united with Viṣṇu (dwelling on His chest), indicating that auspiciousness, prosperity, and success in dharma arise through devotion aligned with Nārāyaṇa.
The verse models bhakti as direct, reverent address (stuti) to the deity—recognizing Lakṣmī’s divine origin (Kṣīroda) and her eternal presence with Viṣṇu—then humbly seeking grace for one’s rightful aims.
It primarily reflects mantra-prayoga (practical application of sacred utterance) rather than a specific Vedāṅga; the takeaway is the ritual principle of devatā-smaraṇa—invoking the deity with precise epithets to focus intention in worship.
