Account of the Aṣṭamī Vow Across the Twelve Months
Narada (teaching in a dharma/vrata context to the Sanatkumara tradition)
Vrata: Dūrvāṣṭamī (by immediate context: worship of dūrvā)
Primary Rasa: bhayanaka
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It emphasizes vidhi (proper procedure) in worship: neglecting a sacred upacāra like dūrvā-pūjā, when enjoined, is treated as a dharma-lopa that yields adverse karmic results across multiple births.
It frames devotion as disciplined reverence expressed through correct ritual conduct (yathāvidhi), teaching that bhakti is not merely emotion but also faithful adherence to prescribed worship.
Kalpa (ritual procedure) is implicit: the verse stresses performing pūjā according to rule (vidhi), reflecting the importance of correct ritual injunctions and observances in practice.
