द्वादशमासेषु अष्टमी-व्रत-कथनम्
Account of the Aṣṭamī Vow Across the Twelve Months
स्थाप्य लिंगं ततो गंधैः पुष्पैर्धूपैश्च दीपकैः । नैवेद्यैरर्चयेद्भक्त्या दध्यक्षतफलादिभिः ॥ ४६ ॥
sthāpya liṃgaṃ tato gaṃdhaiḥ puṣpairdhūpaiśca dīpakaiḥ | naivedyairarcayedbhaktyā dadhyakṣataphalādibhiḥ || 46 ||
Setelah menegakkan liṅga, hendaklah ia memuja dengan bhakti menggunakan wangi-wangian, bunga, dupa dan pelita, serta persembahan naivedya seperti dadih, beras utuh (akṣata), buah-buahan dan sebagainya.

It emphasizes that once the liṅga is स्थापित (properly installed), worship becomes complete through bhakti expressed via the standard upacāras—fragrance, flowers, incense, lamp, and naivedya—showing devotion through reverent offerings.
Bhakti is highlighted as the inner force that makes external ritual meaningful: the same offerings (gandha, puṣpa, dhūpa, dīpa, naivedya) become true worship when performed “bhaktyā,” i.e., with heartfelt devotion rather than mere formality.
It reflects practical kalpa/ācāra (ritual procedure): sequencing—installation first, then upacāra-based worship—and the customary naivedya items (dadhi, akṣata, fruits) used in pūjā.
