The Explanation of the Twelve-Month Caturthī Vrata
Narada (teaching in a vrata-context within the Anukramanika-style section)
Vrata: Dūrvā-Gaṇapati vrata (implied by immediate context)
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
The verse functions as a phala-śruti: it proclaims that this specific vrata grants the highest post-mortem attainment and even the attainment of Gaṇeśa’s state, emphasizing the vow’s unmatched spiritual efficacy across the three worlds.
By declaring attainment of “Gaṇeśa-pada,” the verse frames vrata as a concrete devotional discipline (upāsanā through niyama) where faithful observance leads to proximity with the deity and exalted spiritual status.
The practical takeaway is ritual-dharma: the text stresses vrata-vidhi and its phala (results). While no specific Vedāṅga is named, the verse presumes correct observance guided by Kalpa (ritual procedure) and Dharma-śāstra conventions.
