The Exposition of the Pratipadā Vrata for the Twelve Months
Suta (traditionally narrating Narada Purana’s teaching in summary form; aligned with Narada’s instruction on Vishnu worship)
Vrata: Govardhana-pūjā / Annakūṭa-associated observance (implicit)
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: vira
It teaches that sincere evening worship of Govardhana-dhara (Vishnu/Krishna), performed with reverence toward cows and completed with dakṣiṇā, yields both dharmic prosperity (bhukti) and the highest aim, liberation (mukti).
Bhakti is shown as reverent, concrete worship—honouring Krishna as Govardhana-lifter, serving sacred beings like cows, and offering dakṣiṇā—where devotion is not merely inner feeling but expressed through disciplined, loving ritual that culminates in moksha.
The verse reflects Kalpa (ritual procedure) through the timing (evening worship), the presence of auspicious ritual associations (cows), and the completion of worship with dakṣiṇā—key elements of correct Vedic-Puranic observance.
