This verse functions as an anukramaṇikā (table-of-contents style summary), showing that the Purāṇa preserves not only devotion and dharma but also śāstric disciplines—placing sacred knowledge in an ordered, teachable sequence.
Indirectly: by cataloging supporting sciences (like grammar and medical knowledge), it indicates that clear understanding of scripture and disciplined learning can serve bhakti by enabling accurate recitation, interpretation, and transmission of Purāṇic teachings.
Vyākaraṇa (Sanskrit grammar) is explicitly highlighted, described as an extensive exposition (vyākaraṇa-oham), alongside practical knowledge streams like Hayāyurveda and the description of medicinal herbs (oṣadhī).
