Adhyaya 61The Second Manvantara Begins: The Brahmin’s Swift Journey and Varuthini’s Temptation on Himavat

ब्राह्मण उवाच अष्टावात्मगुणा ये हि तेषामादौ दया द्विज ।

तां करोṣi कथं न त्वं मयि सद्धर्मपालक ॥

brāhmaṇa uvāca aṣṭāv ātma-guṇā ye hi teṣām ādau dayā dvija | tāṃ karoṣi kathaṃ na tvaṃ mayi saddharma-pālaka ||

Brāhmaṇa itu berkata: “Dalam lapan sifat diri, belas kasihan adalah yang utama, wahai yang dua kali lahir. Mengapa engkau tidak menunjukkan belas kasihan itu kepadaku—engkau yang mendakwa menegakkan dharma yang benar?”
