Śamī-vṛkṣe śastra-nidhāna and Entry into Virāṭa’s Capital (शमीवृक्षे शस्त्रनिधानम्)

दक्षिणां दक्षिणाचारो दिशं येनाजयत्‌ प्रभु: । अपज्यमकरोद्‌ वीर: सहदेवस्तदायुधम्‌,शास्त्रानुकूल तथा उदार आचार-विचारवाले शक्तिशाली वीर सहदेवने भी जिसकी सहायतासे दक्षिण दिशाको जीता था, उस धनुषकी डोरी उतार दी

vaiśampāyana uvāca | dakṣiṇāṃ dakṣiṇācāro diśaṃ yenājayat prabhuḥ | apajyam akarod vīraḥ sahadevas tadāyudham |

Vaiśampāyana berkata: Sahadeva yang gagah—lurus dalam tata laku—meleraikan tali daripada senjata yang dengan kekuatannya sang tuan pernah menakluk arah selatan. Perbuatan itu menandakan pengekangan yang disengajakan dan kehati-hatian dalam mengendalikan senjata, menyelaraskan kemampuan perang dengan disiplin akhlak, bukan keganasan yang terburu-buru.
