दमयन्त्याः कार्यनिश्चयः — Damayantī’s Crisis Plan and Vārṣṇeya’s Departure
यावच्च मे धरिष्यन्ति प्राणा देहे शुचिस्मिते । तावत् त्वयि भविष्यामि सत्यमेतद् ब्रवीमि ते,“पवित्र मुसकानवाली देवि! मेरे इस शरीरमें जबतक प्राण रहेंगे, तबतक तुममें मेरा अनन्य अनुराग बना रहेगा, यह मैं तुमसे सच्ची प्रतिज्ञा करके कहता हूँ!
yāvac ca me dhariṣyanti prāṇā dehe śucismite | tāvat tvayi bhaviṣyāmi satyam etad bravīmi te ||
Bṛhadaśva berkata: “Wahai wanita dengan senyuman yang suci dan lembut, selama nafas masih menyokong tubuhku ini, selama itulah aku akan tetap setia kepadamu. Inilah kebenaran yang kuikrarkan kepadamu.”
