Rāmopākhyāna—Rāma–Sītā Origins and the Opening of Rāvaṇa’s Genealogy
निषसादासने मुख्ये भ्रातृभि: परिवारित: । तमुत्थाय महाराज सूतपुत्रो5ब्रवीद् वच:,इसके बाद सब भाइयोंसे घिरा हुआ अपने प्रमुख राजसिंहासनपर विराजमान हुआ। उस समय सूतपुत्र कर्णने उठकर महाराज दुर्योधनसे इस प्रकार कहा--
niṣasādāsane mukhye bhrātṛbhiḥ parivāritaḥ | tam utthāya mahārāja sūtaputro 'bravīd vacaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana berkata: Dikelilingi oleh saudara-saudaranya, baginda pun duduk di atas singgahsana diraja yang utama. Lalu Karṇa, putera sais kereta, bangkit dan berkata kepada Raja Duryodhana dengan kata-kata berikut—
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights royal power and counsel: a king enthroned among kin is immediately shaped by advisers. Ethically, it foreshadows how loyalty and ambition can steer decision-making, raising questions of dharma in political counsel.
Duryodhana takes his seat on the principal throne, surrounded by his brothers. Karṇa then rises and begins to speak to him, introducing a forthcoming speech or advice that will influence the Kaurava course of action.
