Skanda–Mātṛgaṇa-janma: Kumārakāḥ, Kanyāgaṇāḥ, and the Vīrāṣṭaka (स्कन्द-मातृगण-सम्भवः)
आश्रमं च मया नीतो न च प्राणैर्व्ययुज्यत । नरश्रेष्ठ फिर उन्होंने ही मेरे ऊपर अनुग्रह किया। द्विजश्रेष्ठ। तदनन्तर मैंने उनके शरीरसे बाण निकाला और उन्हें उनके आश्रमपर पहुँचा दिया। परंतु उनके प्राण नहीं गये
āśramaṃ ca mayā nīto na ca prāṇair vyayujyata | naraśreṣṭha dvijaśreṣṭha | tad-anantaraṃ mayā tasya śarīrād bāṇaḥ kṛṣṭaḥ, taṃ cāśramaṃ prāpitaḥ; paraṃtu tasya prāṇā na gatāḥ |
Aku telah membawanya ke āśrama (pertapaannya), namun nafas hayatnya belum terpisah darinya. Wahai yang terbaik di antara manusia, wahai yang terbaik di antara kaum dwija! Sesudah itu aku mencabut anak panah dari tubuhnya dan menghantarnya ke āśramanya; namun demikian, nyawanya tidak juga pergi.
व्याध उवाच
Even when harm has occurred, dharma can still be served through immediate compassion and responsible care—protecting life, aiding the injured, and showing reverence to ascetics and the twice-born.
The hunter reports that he escorted the wounded person to the hermitage, extracted the arrow from the body, and ensured safe arrival; despite the injury, the victim’s life-breaths did not depart.
