Indradyumna Upākhyāna: On Kīrti, Smṛti, and Restoration
उपस्थास्यन्ति योधाक्ष शस्त्राणि कवचानि च । स धर्मविजयी राजा चक्रवर्ती भविष्यति,मनके द्वारा चिन्तन करते ही उसके पास इच्छानुसार वाहन, अस्त्र-शस्त्र, योद्धा और कवच उपस्थित हो जायँगे। वह धर्मविजयी चक्रवर्ती राजा होगा
upasthāsyanti yodhākṣa śastrāṇi kavacāni ca | sa dharmavijayī rājā cakravartī bhaviṣyati ||
Mārkaṇḍeya berkata: “Wahai yang bermata pahlawan, senjata dan zirah akan tampil di hadapanmu. Raja itu akan menjadi cakravartin, menakluk menurut dharma—kemenangannya berasaskan pemerintahan yang benar, bukan semata-mata kekerasan.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
Power and military capability are portrayed as legitimate only when subordinated to dharma: the ideal ruler is ‘dharmavijayī’—one whose success and sovereignty are ethically grounded, not merely coercive.
Mārkaṇḍeya foretells the rise of a king whose resources for protection and battle—weapons and armour—will readily come to him, culminating in his becoming a cakravartin, a paramount ruler characterized by dharmic victory.
