Omens and Reception During Keśava’s Departure
Even in the approach to war, dharmic leadership prioritizes wise counsel and ethical statecraft. Yudhiṣṭhira values Vidura not for power but for integrity, deep judgment, and knowledge of critical matters—implying that righteous action should be guided by the best moral and strategic advice available.
In the Udyoga Parva’s preparations and negotiations, Yudhiṣṭhira addresses Kṛṣṇa (Madhusūdana) and urges him to win over Vidura—an influential, trusted advisor in the Kuru court—so that such a principled and perceptive counselor may stand with the Pāṇḍavas.
