Omens and Reception During Keśava’s Departure

भीष्म द्रोणं कृपं चैव महाराजं च बाह्विकम्‌ | द्रौ्णिंच सोमदत्तं च सर्वाश्ष भरतान्‌ प्रति

bhīṣmaṃ droṇaṃ kṛpaṃ caiva mahārājaṃ ca bāhvīkam | drauṇiṃ ca somadattaṃ ca sarvāṃś ca bharatān prati ||

Yudhiṣṭhira berkata: “(Aku akan menyapa) Bhīṣma, Droṇa dan Kṛpa; juga raja Bāhlīka; Aśvatthāmā putera Droṇa; dan Somadatta—bahkan seluruh kaum Bharata.” Pada saat ini, ucapan Yudhiṣṭhira membingkai rayuan yang bakal datang bukan sebagai tawar-menawar politik semata-mata, tetapi sebagai seruan dharma kepada para tua-tua dan sanak saudara yang dihormati, yang kewibawaan dan suara hati mereka penting untuk menahan keganasan.
